North Carolina Wine TV Review:
Pinot Grigio is the mostly widely known of Italian grapes but most produced in the U.S is often tasteless. On first sip of the Raffaldini 2008 Pinot Grigio you can tell that the wine is made from young vines but it is off to a good start. This white wine has heavy tones of honey and melon on the nose. In the mouth it feels too thin, but still shows nice flavor of honey, apple and lemon. A light and refreshing summer wine that shows potential. A wine to follow over the next few years as the vines mature.
Price: $15
Availability: Directly from the winery and some North Carolina wine stores.

About Raffaldini Vineyards (from the winery)
The Raffaldini family motto, “Audentes Fortuna Iuvat” means, “Fortune favors he who dares.” This Latin phrase originates from the Aeneid, Virgil’s most famous work. Born in 70 BC during the reign of Julius Caesar, Virgil is best known as the author of this epic poem that links the birth of Rome to the Trojan War. The fusion of family, food and wine is an integral part of our daily life. For more than six hundred and fifty years, the Raffaldini family has witnessed many historic events and has often marked such occasions with special family dinners and homemade Italian wine.

Ok guys – please put my name in the hat for the corkscrew drawing! Not that I really need it but it does look very nice and would be a great addition to my collection!
The Raffaldini Pinot Grigio sounds really delicious so I will definitely look for this one. Beautiful winery; I’ve never been there but now I want to go!
Love the “paper napkin” notes on the finish…keep ‘em coming guys. Raffaldini is a gorgeous place. Very scenic. Well done-not too pretentious like I believe Childress is.
Putting a plug in for the corkscrew. I like this type of opener…my favorite. I like the two ‘pull points’ as well. Makes the opening much smoother.
Good luck and good job guys!!
Put me in the drawing for the corkscrew. I was with friends at Raffaldini this past weekend and enjoyed all of their wines. With the sun shining, a glass of wine, good friends, and a breeze up on the mountain I wanted to stay all day.

Please add me to the cork-pull drawing. Curious to try this Pinot Grigio, I’ll bet it’s better with food like most Italian-style whites.
