The RayLen Vineyards 2007 Pinot Grigio is a dark golden color in the glass with a traditional North Carolina white wine nose of green apple peel, honey and a touch of citrus. There is also a hint of Chardonnay, which would account for the color. This is a smooth, dry white wine that is well-made and balanced, but it does not have any dominant flavors. There is a bit of apple and melon, and even some buttery oak from the Chardonnay. The most interesting part of the wine is a mineral water like finish. Many white wine drinkers will enjoy the smoothness of this wine, but we would prefer a larger flavor profile.

About: 2007 Pinot Grigio (from the winery)
This Pinot Grigio is a well-balanced, Italian-style white wine. Notes of lime zest, Meyer lemon, and a touch of grapefruit give this wine a crisp finish. Pairs well with a sidewalk café and light entrées.
About RayLen Vineyards: (from the winery)
Joe and Joyce Neely were inspired by a trip to Italy to open a winery in North Carolina – no easy task less than ten years ago. RayLen produced its first wines in 2000 and opened its doors for business in 2001 with the completion of the Tasting Room. RayLen Vineyards & Winery became a bonded winery in April of 2001 when only four other wineries in the Yadkin Valley existed.
