Wine Tip 31: Soaked Cork

You really can’t learn anything about wine from sniffing the cork, but you can learn something by looking at it. Sometimes when you pull out the cork, it is soaked in wine and swollen. This could be mean that the cork has not done its job of properly sealing the bottle while it was stored. Check the top of the cork and if it is dry and clean, chances are the wine is fine.
