The Old North State Winery Autumn Leaf Rose smells like a semi-dry rose with notes of watermelon peel, strawberry jam and grapefruit. The wine starts like a good rose with watermelon, strawberry and grapefruit. The second half of the wine is bitter and unbalanced. This wine did not finish well.

About Autumn Leaf Rose (from the winery)
Made from Chambourcin grapes in a white wine style, its fresh fruit and floral aromas burst vividly before proceeding to rest beautifully on the palate. Perfect in hue and taste to fit between the heavy reds and lighter whites.

About Old North State Winery:
Old North State Winery started as a cooperative in 2002 and has since evolved into a winery owned by two families with one vision. Our vineyards were established on farms that have been in our families for generations. We hope you enjoy the culmination of our dreams, our devotion to our farmland, and our passion for our wines produced at Old North State Winery.

Most of our wines start out as luscious wine grapes grown on Yadkin Valley North Carolina family farms. We are the Old North State Winery, Inc. located in Mount Airy, in the headwaters of the Yadkin Valley AVA. Wine, beer and fine foods are our passion and our legacy.

About Biltmore Zinfandel Blanc de Noir (from the winery):

About Biltmore Estate (from the winery):
The most visited winery in the United States isn’t located in Napa Valley. It’s at Biltmore in the mountains of North Carolina, where approximately 1 million visitors stop by to sample award-winning estate wines each year. The first vineyards at Biltmore were established in 1971 in an area below Biltmore House. French-American hybrids were planted initially, with vinifera plantings following in a few years. Inspired after several years of experimenting, William A.V. Cecil, then president and owner of Biltmore, decided that a winery was the natural outcome of ongoing research and a logical extension of his grandfather’s intention that the estate be self-supporting.

North Carolina Wine TV Review:
This unique approach sweet wine combines white wine and pomegranate fruit juice. At first look the wine appears like a very dark rose style wine. The nose is limited with a little berry and red fruit, but not much aromatically from the wine. In the mouth this wine is like syrup along with a high level of alcohol, with very little flavor from the white wine coming through. This wine will appeal to some, but better sweet wine values exist in North Carolina.

About Chatham Hill Winery Sweet Carolina Pomegranate (from the winery)
Just as all our Sweet Carolina wines, our Pomegranate infused wine is a delicious grape wine blend infused with the natural tangy fruit juice of pomegranate. Slightly sweet with a cranberry cherry aroma the flavors start with a peppery, zesty tartness and finish with a unique, slightly sweet end. Outstanding as a holiday wine with your turkey dinner or glazed ham. Serve chilled or heat with mulling spices.

About Chatham Hill Winery (from the winery):
Chatham Hill Winery was established in 1999 as the first winery in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area and the first Urban Winery in North Carolina. Its mission is to produce distinctive, handcrafted wines of high quality and purity from grapes grown in North Carolina. Majority of Chatham Hill wines including Chardonnay, Viognier, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc are handcrafted from the best quality Yadkin Valley AVA grapes produced by our grower partners.

At Chatham Hill we believe in a minimalist approach to winemaking. Our wines are produced using traditional methods. Although we only try to help Mother Nature in turning grapes into wine, we use the highest quality materials and meticulously sterilized equipment. We emphasize the scientific approach in controlling the conditions under which the grapes are fermented and wines are aged, blended, and bottled. We believe the combination of our winemaking skills and philosophy will yield a premium wine, a goal to which we are passionately committed.

North Carolina Wine TV Review:
Rose’s are interesting wines and the Skull Camp Wines Confusion is not any different. It is an example of how great North Carolina Rose can be. On the nose this rose shows melon rind, strawberry, lavender, raspberry and cranberry. In the mouth it shows great weight without showing any heat from the alcohol. Watermelon and strawberry are met with a tart cranberry flavor that comes from the Cabernet Franc grapes that the wine is made from. The Skull Camp Wines Confusion is a perfect balance of flavors, a great value at $13 and all of the things a great North Carolina Rose should be.

North Carolina Wine TV Review:
From the first sniff of this Round Peak Dry Rose you can tell that it is completely dry. The nose of this wine comes through with lots of watermelon peel, followed by strawberries and red raspberries. This wine is very well balanced, with just a touch of tartness from the Cabernet Franc. The flavors from the nose transition into the mouth, where the wine also shows excellent body and mouth feel. This wine lack complexity that would really make it a show stopper, regardless it is a summer wine worth trying.
