North Carolina Wine TV Review:
The 2005 RayLen Vineyards Carolinius seemed challenged on the nose with lite notes of fruits, but not many flavors coming through on the nose. The mouth feel is a little too lite and their is some red fruit with but that is overshadowed by an oak and artificial flavor with a short finish. Overall this wine is average, but not delicious, there are better wines for $15.

Rating: 1.5 out of 5 stars

according to the North Carolina Wine Ratings Scale

About: 2005 Carolinius (from the winery)
Classic red varietals selected in this harmonious blend include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petite Verdot. Its light body and flavors of raspberry and current make this a perfect table wine for your everyday food from spaghetti to steak. Pairs well with a white wine drinker looking to convert to reds.

About RayLen Vineyards: (from the winery)
Joe and Joyce Neely were inspired by a trip to Italy to open a winery in North Carolina – no easy task less than ten years ago. RayLen produced its first wines in 2000 and opened its doors for business in 2001 with the completion of the Tasting Room. RayLen Vineyards & Winery became a bonded winery in April of 2001 when only four other wineries in the Yadkin Valley existed.
